Your support changes children’s lives
Child sponsorship in Buhemba means giving a child access to education
at preschool and primary school.
Primary school lasts six years. Fees are paid in advance each year (every January) for six consecutive years.
The school provides spacious, well-equipped classrooms, running water and toilets.
Pupils are transported to school from distant villages every day.
At school, they receive two nutritious meals, which is especially important because
children often arrive hungry.
Sponsoring a preschool child is a three-year commitment. Preschool fees are paid in advance each year (every January) for three consecutive years.
This is a financial commitment. The fees cover textbooks
and school supplies, a uniform
(including a jumper, shirt or blouse, trousers or a skirt, socks and shoes), meals and, of course, education.
How does sponsoring a child work?
As part of the sponsorship programme, you are matched with an individual child around the end of December or the beginning of January.
A sponsorship document containing basic information about the child and a photograph is sent to the email address you provide.

Frequently asked questions
Can I send clothes and gifts to the child?
Parcels to Africa take a very long time to arrive, with no guarantee that they will reach the recipient. Customs duties must be paid before they can be collected in Tanzania. There is no one on site who could collect and deliver these parcels to individual children. We encourage financial support instead, with the child’s name included in the payment reference, as most of the things children need can be bought in Tanzania.
Will I have contact with the child I sponsor?
We aim to post regular updates about life at our mission, including the preschool and school, on our Facebook page and our foundation’s website. We care for almost 500 children, so we are unable to provide individual updates about each of them. Doing so would require an additional person at the mission dedicated solely to this task.
